Mr. Hansel
The KEKSTONE was discovered by Dr Joseph Leary-Goodman during his 1898 archaeological excavation of the Cinos-Nahtan cave system located in Kekistan's north-eastern Otomakan province. It is the single largest ever discovered shard of Kektite, a geologically young mineral only found within close proximity of the Cni-Krad meteor impact zone. Radiometric testing has confirmed the stone is approximately 5000 years old, dating to around 3500 BC, contemporary to Cni-Krad's terrestrial impact date. The stone is approximately 32cm in length and of translucent emerald green colour, appearing to emit an ethereal glow common to all known examples of Kektite. The Stone depicts three humanoid figures in high relief, seemingly carved into the Kektite surface. Little is understood of how this was achieved with contemporary tools or techniques of the era. Kektite being one of the hardest occurring minerals on Earth with a Mohs hardness rating of 9, making it's physical carving a practical impossibility prior to the advent of 20th Century industrial cutting advancements. It is theorised that the three figures represent the 'Bearer of Veracity' (Holder of Truth and Light) as described within the partial remains of the Sumerian Epic of Gigakek (2100 B.C). The legible elements of the tale describe the arrival of El'Biledni, Lesnah, & Bysae, a Homo-Anuran triple being, some 1400 years prior. Unfortunately, no record remains as to the nature of this visit as the remainder of the tale was lost during an attempt to destroy the Epic at a later point in antiquity. At the time of its discovery Dr Leary-Goodman stated: "The stone was intricately hidden within an obscured alcove at the deepest recesses of Cinos-Nahtan, which in turn had been backfilled with some three hundred tonnes of rubble, thus giving the impression that the traversable limits of the cave had been reached. One can only presume from this that the stone's hiding was a deliberate act carried out by a people determined on its ongoing obfuscation from the world". The KEKSTONE remained in the possession of Dr Leary-Goodman for the next decade during which time his increasingly esoteric beliefs and odd behaviour was met with growing criticism from within the scientific community. Accusations of occultist activity taking place at Leary-Goodman's Wiltshire home, Villarz Hall, led to his eventual dismissal from the Royal Society of Antiquarians in 1906, after which he became embittered and reclusive. He was rarely seen in public again, and on those few occasions was described as having undergone significant physical change, his face appearing swollen and sickly in colour. On the night of November 1st 1908, ten years after discovering the KEKSTONE, Villarz Hall was destroyed in an immense fire. Although no remains were recovered, Leary-Goodman was never seen again and was officially recorded as having perished in the fire, his body presumed vaporised such was the intensity of the inferno. The KEKSTONE was however found unaffected, and subsequently sold at auction, there being acquired by the Kaiser-Friedrich museum in Berlin where it was put on public display the following year.On December 12th 1910 the KEKSTONE was stolen from the Kaiser-Friedrich museum and was never recovered. The duty nightwatchman, Herr Daiber later recounted: "I had just finished locking up and had started my walk home as the bell of the great Berliner Dom struck 9pm. It was a particularly cold and foggy night but the moonlight was strong, producing a strange silvery green light that seemed to rise from the river Spree. All at once the figure of a cloaked man appeared out of the fog, approaching from across the bridge. In that strange light his skin appeared to reflect the green of the fog and he wore a gold amulet around his neck which looked to be quite ancient, with what appeared to be a crystal at its centre. His stare fixed upon my eyes, he was softly chanting, I saw circles, more circles, then nothing. At this point I must have passed out, I awoke early the following morning inside of the museum, the strange man and the KEKSTONE were gone."
