Rise with the women of Iran! Dozens of cities in Iran have been embroiled in protests that were prompted by a young woman’s death in custody but that have escalated amid anger over religious rules and a rock-bottom economy.The unrest was sparked by the death of a woman detained by morality police in late September 2022.Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman from the north-western city of Saqez, died in hospital in Tehran following three days in a coma.Since the protests have started, the Iranian government has shut down internet communications in an effort to supress the women's voices and to censor the news about their uprising.IRANPEPE is an artwork to support the Iranian women and to spread the word about their fight for justice.May Iranians find peace, justice and equality again soon.
